Maples Family Restaurant
About This Spot
Maples Family Restaurant sits quietly on Straits Turnpike in Middlebury, welcoming guests into a space that feels like a gentle embrace from a familiar neighbor. The moment you step inside, the pace unhurried, the hum of easy conversation fills the air, and the weight of a busy day seems to drift away. Here, warm booths invite groups to settle in close, while the subtle scent of Italian herbs and simmering sauces sets an inviting backdrop. It’s the kind of place where families gather, couples linger, and friends find a familiar corner to catch up.
The atmosphere carries an honest simplicity — unpretentious but thoughtful, where the staff’s attentiveness never feels rushed, instead creating a restful rhythm that complements the hearty, home-style cooking. It’s not just the food that draws people in, but the sense of connection that flows naturally between kitchen, table, and community. The menu reflects this spirit with generous portions and comforting options that shift seamlessly between classic American diner favorites and Italian homestyle dishes, each bite revealing care in preparation rather than flair.
Whether you’re stopping by for a relaxed brunch with friends, sharing a laughter-filled family dinner, or pausing for a quiet coffee accompanied by friendly smiles, Maples offers more than just a meal. It provides a backdrop where everyday moments are cushioned by warmth and familiarity, where the welcoming buzz and well-loved recipes combine to build a quietly joyful experience that feels both timeless and genuine.

Breakfast was good and portions we perfect for the price. All staff were friendly and attentive. Very relaxing atmosphere and loved all the booth seating for most of the restaurant.

True American diner/family restaurant style! It’s a fun and friendly place that’s welcoming to all groups from families to couples. Their menu and specials will make anyone happy. Large generous portions will fill your belly. The clearly fresh, clean, and scrumptious food that is brought out is a treat. Good coffee too. Another plus is that they have good prices too. We enjoyed coming here with friends, felt comfortable, and will definitely come back and bring more people.

Finally went to this long-standing restaurant with my partner that knew this place from his neighborhood. Extensive menu. Nice waitress. They have a bar for staff to make drinks for patrons but it's not a sit down room. We ordered a rum and club soda and Sapphire gin with tonic. For food, we had stuffed mushrooms that were average, an eggplant grinder which was crispy and fresh, and a grilled chicken sandwich without cheese that did not stand out to me. Perhaps it was a seasoning choice but my partner happily ate the other half the next day with added cheese. Large breakfast menu for those looking for eggs, pancakes, etc. Lunch and dinner choices abound with specials. I like a place that offers stuffed trout. Definitely worth a visit if in the area. Locals will keep it going for as many years as they want to stay open.

Lovely family restaurant with large portion sizes and home cooking.

Went for Sunday brunch with a large group of people. Short wait while they got the tables ready. Service was very good, and food delicious. Looks like they had a good selection of different mimosas although none of us are drinkers. Quick on/off for Interstate 84.

It's definitely a restaurant with an Older/Generational crowd, very low key for a spot that serves alcohol early morning and with me working 3rd shift that's the kind of spot I'm looking for after I punch out at 7am. The food is definitely delicious, I've been here several times and I haven't had a bad thing to say about the place at all. Fast service, amazingly kind waitresses and a good amount of parking. I would recommend it for sure.
